DescriptionWooden rectangular box covered with leather; low arched leather lid hinged with stamped gilded designs: 3 fleur-de-lis across top, running vine border around edge; steel lock plate and hasp on the center front; angular iron bail handle in center of lid; interior lined with uncut English book sheets noting Shakespeare, Locke, Milton, Swift, and Dryden as well as others, stamped with black floral pattern; two pieces of lathe nailed to underside of bottom along front and back.
