DescriptionDocument box; leather covered box; rectangular in shape; lid has flat top with short, straight sides and is hinged at back on pair of small brass hinges; brass bail handle with pair of small, circular brass rosettes in center of lid; lower part of box deeper than lid with white paper printed all over with tiny dark blue stars; bottom of underside of box covered with pages 587 and 590 from THE MEDICAL MUSEUM: OR, A REPOSITORY OF CASES, EXPERIMENTS, RESEARCHES , AND DISCOVERIES... VOL. III (Printed by W. Richardson and S. Clark: London, 1764) overprinted with small black triangles; outside of box covered with black and brown leather trimmed with brass tacks along all edges with quarter circles at front corners and half-oval at front and oval at top; front has quarter circles at bottom corners and a half oval around poitned oval brass escutcheon. Interior of oval, half oval, and quarter circles brown leather, exterior black leather.Leather on deal with brass tacks and paper lining.
