DescriptionCast silver candlestick with a cylindrical socket molded at the top and bottom, a stem in form of asix-petaled flower above molded knop. Its low-domed terraced base is hexagonally scalloped with the lobes fluted to suggest shells or flower petals. The bobeche is topped by a hexagonally scalloped flange en suite with the form of the base.
InscribedEngraved with the crest of a forepart of a rampant lion facing left on the underside of the base.
MarkingsStruck on the inside of the base with the standard London sterling hallmarks for 1759, plus Cafe's mark of a Gothic "I : C" below a cinquefoil, all in relief within a three-lobed cartouche (Grimwade-1228).
